Reason #4: Predictive Checkpoints
As part of the new-and-improved placement system, v12 introduces something called Predictive Checkpoints. These Checkpoints don’t affect initial placement; rather, they assist in the ongoing placement as a student is making his or her way through the curriculum. Predictive Checkpoints are like short quizzes that determine if a student needs to see a certain piece of content.
For example, watch the video below. In this example, the student is about to encounter a grammar activity about proper nouns. But just before she gets the activity, a Predictive Checkpoint will administer a few questions to test her proficiency with proper nouns. If she doesn’t demonstrate complete proficiency at the Checkpoint, then she will see the grammar activity. However, if it is determined that she doesn’t need this instruction, she will skip it—and move on to something that she needs.
