Why schools need social media — Reason #6: For instant access

Have you ever had a student ask you a question you couldn’t answer?

Rather than dodging the question (and extinguishing a student’s curiosity) or making an impromptu trip to the library, you can encourage students to take discovery into their own hands. See who can research the answer the quickest using laptops or mobile phones. They can ask their followers on Twitter, look up reference articles on Wikipedia, or use their favorite search engine.

The experience will teach your students how to find credible sources online and, more importantly, that  they can find answers to any question with a little research.

Need another reason to use social media in school?
