The Utah State Board of Education recently approved Provo-based educational software company, Imagine Learning, as one of the only approved providers for both K-1 and 2-3 categories of Utah’s Early Intervention Reading Software Program (EIRSP).

The EIRSP program offers a grant for all Utah elementary schools to provide reading software programs to students in grades K-3. The goal of the intervention program is to improve literacy skills across the state.

Due to a rigorous, third-party evaluation that looks at the efficacy, scope, implementation ability, and referrals of an educational software program, only a handful of companies were chosen as approved providers. Imagine Learning was one of only two approved EdTech solutions for both the K-1 and 2-3 categories.

“As a Utah-based company, being approved for the EIRSP grant has extra meaning for us at Imagine Learning,” expressed Joe Swenson, Imagine Learning CEO. “Our mission is to help all students reach their academic potential. Being a part of the EIRSP program allows us to help even more children across Utah to strengthen their reading skills.”

Each year, the Utah State Board of Education hires a third-party evaluator to assess available educational software programs. Results from the most recent Utah Evaluation Summary show that kindergarten, second, and third grade students who used Imagine Language & Literacy performed statistically better on end-of-year Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) assessments than students who didn’t use the Imagine Learning program. The study also showed that an increased use of Imagine Language & Literacy was associated with statistically better performance on nearly every component of the DIBELS assessment for kindergarten and first grade students.

“Imagine Language & Literacy has demonstrated a consistent history of positively impacting student reading skills,” explained Jeremy Cowdrey, Executive Vice President over Sales and Marketing for Imagine Learning. “The 2016-2017 Utah evaluation report is the most recent iteration of several yearly reports that show the value of Imagine Language & Literacy for Utah students. Year after year, these evaluations have consistently shown Imagine Learning to be an effective program for K-3 students.”

Imagine Learning has a solid presence in Utah schools and robust relationships with state educators. Currently, Imagine Learning programs are used in approximately 500 schools across Utah, serving over 45,000 students.
